Board the R-31 at the swim platform. A hinged transom door offers entry into the spacious and open cockpit. This cockpit is a multi-purpose area and offers the possibility of fishing, entertaining, or relaxing. Additionally, the vessel can be operated from the cockpit at the aft helm station.

Two downrigger pads (port and starboard) allow for trolling or pulling pot gear. The cockpit deck is an EVA foam high traction material for safety, comfort, and easy cleaning. The cockpit comfortably seats six with built-in seating on the transom and on the cleverly-designed seats that fold open from the port and starboard gunwales of the cockpit. An optional aft steering station is installed on the starboard side of the cockpit next to the cockpit sink, and is useful for fishing and mooring.

The hardtop cockpit cover with integrated lights and overhead hatches provide shelter from the sun or the rain. The original refrigerator that is typically installed in the cockpit was replaced with a freezer by the current owner, however, the refrigerator is in storage and the next owner could re-install the fridge if desired.

The interior is accessed through an all glass hinged door. The main cabin / saloon is laid out with the galley to starboard and a settee to port. The helm station is located to the starboard side with companion seating opposite.

The galley has granite countertops, a double-basin stainless steel sink, Force 10 two burner cooktop and oven, a Novakool 4.5 cubic foot refrigerator with built-in freezer compartment, microwave, and a wine cooler. The galley also has a very good amount of storage.

The settee table to can be expanded or reduced in size, as needed, and is sized to seat several guests. The settee can be converted to a double-berth if desired. The saloon is also equipped with a flat screen TV + DVD player which hinges down from the ceiling.

The helm station features a full suite of navigational electronics and controls within reach of the skipper. Visibility from the helm station is good all around. The sliding helm door allows for quick access to the foredeck or side decks. Companion seating is just across the passageway from the helm seat.

Forward of the saloon lies the master suite. The master suite has an island double berth, flat screen TV, Fusion stereo control, and copious storage space. A variety of lighting and overhead hatches provide light and ventilation to this space. The master head compartment is adjacent to the port side of the master suite and has a marine toilet, elegant blue glass wash basin, and shower.

A second cabin is located in the port quarter of the saloon. Tucked behind a plexiglass hinged door for privacy lies a double berth, seating area, and a second marine toilet.

Numerous large windows, including the curved front windshield and multiple hatches provide for a surprising amount of natural light and ability to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings while underway.

The side decks are wide enough to allow access fore and aft from the cockpit to the foredeck. A built-in fold-up seat for two is located on the foredeck.

The coachroof is equipped with numerous hatches, sport rails, a cargo box, and solar panels. The hinged mast base allows it to be easily folded down for applications that require a lower aircraft (such as low bridges or towing).

Broker's Comments

This vessel has been boathouse kept for the past 5 years -- meaning she's experienced significantly less exposure to UV and weather than other R-31's of her vintage. If desired, the boathouse can be included (at an additional cost) with the sale of the vessel.

I'm amazed by the number of desirable features that are installed as standard equipment and as options on this particular Ranger Tugs R-31 S.

This R-31 is equipped with a full suite of navigational electronics (including recently updated AIS transceiver), bow and stern thruster to assist with close quarters handling, and a solar panel to keep the batteries topped off when not on shore power.

As a Northwest Edition, this vessel is equipped to accommodate down riggers and is set up with diesel cabin heat.

Other noteworthy options and upgrades include:

-Slow speed module for the Volvo-Penta D4 300hp diesel engine (800 hours)
-Aft steering station located in the cockpit
-Upgraded anchor (Rocna 15kg)
-Ranger Tugs RT-290 RIB w/ Suzuki 2.5 hp outboard
-Cummins Onan 5kw Genset (43 hours)

If your cruising plans include extended periods on the hook, the Cummins 5kW genset is particularly helpful, as it can quickly recharge depleted batteries, power the water heater, and if needed, a water maker.

I like the R-31 because it is so well suited for performing so many different on-the-water scenarios in comfort! Aboard the R-31 you can enjoy long cruises at fuel efficient speeds, or enjoy planing speeds to get to your destination quickly. You can troll for salmon, and then freeze your catch. Entertaining company is a pleasure, as are extended periods in secluded anchorages. You could live aboard and cruise year round. This boat is an all-in-one package that can truly check a lot of boxes. This R-31 is boathouse kept, upgraded, and ready for cruising.
